Focus on Forever

My mom's cousin, Regina, died this morning after suffering from cancer for a while; and although we didn't know her very long, her flame was bright. She came to our family reunion two summers ago, and you would've never guessed that she was living with such a terrible disease. She was excited about life and about meeting new people, and she was so happy to be celebrating with us.

So, all of that has me thinking about how short life really is. In Psalm 10, King David said,

"As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. When the wind has passed over it, it is no more, and its place acknowledges it no longer. But the lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children's children, To those who keep His covenant, and remember His precepts to do them."

We would do well to remember this. Our time on earth is so short, that we have to live for eternity instead. Our lives are like grass and then we're no more on this earth, but for those of us who have an eternal focus, we know that we get to be with our Savior forever.

How can you live intentionally with a heart focused on forever instead of on this present life; yet savoring the precious moments God gives us everyday?
